The 7th Sunday of Easter
This Sunday places us in the luminous space between Ascension and Pentecost — a moment when heaven opens, Christ is lifted up, and the Church learns to live in the promise of His continuing presence.
In Acts, the disciples watch Jesus ascend, not into absence, but into a new way of being with them, and they return to Jerusalem in prayerful expectation.
Psalm 47 calls all creation to clap, shout, and sing, proclaiming God as the One who reigns over all nations with wisdom and joy.
Peter’s letter reminds a community under pressure that suffering does not diminish God’s care; instead, humility and steadfastness become the ground where God restores and strengthens His people.
And in John’s Gospel, we overhear Jesus praying for His followers — a prayer of unity, protection, and shared glory, spoken just before His departure.
Together, these readings draw us into a worship shaped by praise, trust, and holy anticipation: Christ is exalted, God is sovereign, and the Spirit is near.
