The 1st Sunday after Christmas
Today we celebrate the First Sunday after Christmas with the cherished service of Lessons and Carols, a tradition that began at King’s College, Cambridge in 1918. Created to bring hope and unity after the First World War, it weaves together Scripture and song to tell the sweeping story of God’s saving love—from humanity’s first need for redemption to the birth of Jesus, the Light of the World.
Through readings from Genesis, Isaiah, Luke, and John, interspersed with hymns and choral offerings, we journey once more from darkness into light, from promise to fulfillment. This service invites us not only to hear the story of salvation, but to let its beauty and truth take root in our hearts.

Collect
Almighty God, you have poured upon us the new light of your incarnate Word: Grant that this light, enkindled in our hearts, may shine forth in our lives; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
